Eastern Industrial Supplies is seeking FUTURE LEADERS to learn the pipe, valves, and fittings industry.  This Entry Level Sales Position provides full benefits and an in-depth training program.  Sales Trainees will have unlimited compensation potential as their career progresses to inside sales, outside sales, or management. The company is seeking bright, enthusiastic, people-oriented individuals for this position.  Qualified candidates will be open to relocation to any of our 16 Branch Locations in the Southeast US.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Included are the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Begins training in distribution and other departments to learn how all aspects of the business coordinate to service customer needs.
  • Plans and performs sales and service programs to promote products, improve competitive position in area, and provide fast and efficient customer service.
  • Enters and tracks orders.
  • Assists co-workers with quotations, administration of programs, research, and order tracking.
  • Confers with potential customers to determine needs for engineered products, commodities, and service.
  • Advises customer on types of equipment to purchase, considering such factors as cost, effectiveness, space availability, and intended use.
  • Coordinates activities of personnel engaged in sales, service, accounting and record keeping, and shipping and receiving operations.
  • Reviews articles in trade publications to learn about and stay abreast of industry and developments within the industry.
  • Attends seminars on a regular basis to increase product knowledge.
  • Resolves customer complaints.
  • Reports for work on a regular and timely basis.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Prefer at least a two-year Associate's degree, ideal candidate will have a four-year Bachelor's degree.  Will also consider the total equivalent combination of relevant industry experience and education.


Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safety manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers and associates. Spanish would be helpful.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should develop knowledge of Eclipse Accounting software and Eclipse Inventory software. Ability to use Windows based applications is preferable.


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current Driver's License


Other Skills and Abilities:  Sales trainees must be willing to relocate as needed throughout the organization.
